Manitoba Wildfire
OVERVIEW
Manitoba’s Wildfire Service (MWS) is organized into three regions that contain a main fire centre number of initial attack bases and satellite locations from which operations are conducted. Headquarters is located in Winnipeg.
The regions and their associated rural offices are as follows:
Northern Region Fire Centre: Thompson
Western Region Fire Centre: The Pas
Eastern Region Fire Centre: Lac du Bonnet
Boots on the Ground is approximately 144 to 164 people, configured into 4-person Initial Attack Crews, totalling possibly 41 crews overall. Back in 2021, the program got an uplift of five more IA crews added. Whether they were able to fill all positions has not been confirmed.
