Ontario Wildfire


OVERVIEW

Ontario Aviation and Forest Fire Emergency Services (AFFES) is organized into two main fire regions, one being the Northwest and the other the Northeast. The provincial program headquarters is located in Sault Ste. Marie, however, each of the regions house a Regional Headquarter. The regions and their associated fire districts are as follows:

  • Northwest Fire Region: Dryden - Regional Headquarters

  • Northeast Fire Region: Greater Sudbury - Regional Headquaters

Boots on the Ground is approximately 150 - 4 person Initial Attack Crews.

  • All possible accommodations (staff bunkhouses) are located in the Northwest Fire Region and are as follows:

    • Armstong FMH

    • Geraldton FMH

    • Pickle Lake FMH

    • Red Lake FMH

    • Sioux Lookout FMH

  • Sadly there doesn’t seem to be a signing bonus this year. I do know a $5000 bonus was offered in 2024 due to a recruitment concerns; however, I didn’t see any being offered this year.

  • The provincial website merely states that applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada and posses a valid S.I.N. number.
