Today’s Overview
Alberta is feeling some sort of relief at the moment. Fires in the province received some rain, which lowered the fine fuel moisture codes (FFMCs) and build-up index (BUIs), but only temporarily halted their progression. However, the province has indicated that in its NW Boreal region, things are still dry, having received the least amount of rain.
Given the prep levels we’re seeing and the out-of-country resources on hand, there’s still a lot of fire on the landscape. Agencies that have few to no fires are currently at drawdown levels in order to support other agencies across the country.
